Momentous sent me this supplement to try. I’d heard of Magnesium Glycinate, but “Bisglycinate” made me pause. Was it something different, or did magnesium just get a longer name?

Before taking it, I wanted to understand what was in the bottle. Then I tried it for a week and paid attention to how I felt. One week won’t tell me everything, but it gives me a place to start.

What Is Magnesium Bisglycinate

Big name, simple idea. Magnesium Bisglycinate is magnesium joined to two tiny parts called glycine. Glycine is one of the building blocks your body uses to make proteins.

The “bis” means two. That’s it. No spelling test needed.

You’ll also hear it called Magnesium Glycinate. Both names usually mean the same form of magnesium, so the longer name doesn’t mean you’re getting extra magnesium.

Momentous designed this supplement to support calm, relaxed muscles, and the body’s move toward sleep. Think of winding down after a busy day. The idea is to support that quiet time, not force you to sleep.

Momentous Magnesium Bisglycinate

Two capsules after dinner became part of my evening routine. During my first week, I noticed more relaxed muscles and less tossing and turning in bed. Here’s how it went for me.

Why I Tried Momentous Magnesium Bisglycinate

I love Momentous for a few simple reasons. The company says its products are checked by an outside testing group for purity and to make sure what’s inside matches the label. That matters to me—I want more than a nice-looking bottle. I want to know what I’m taking. Momentous also works with scientists and health experts to develop its supplements. Momentous quality standards.

I’ve also tried other Momentous products, so I was curious about this one.

What I Checked on the Momentous Label

First, I checked the serving size. Two capsules give you 200 mg of magnesium. That means one capsule gives you 100 mg—not 200 mg. Tiny print, big difference.

The bottle holds 60 capsules, enough for 30 days if you take two each day. The directions say to take them in the evening.

The magnesium comes in the bisglycinate form. The label also lists hypromellose for the capsule, silica, magnesium stearate, and microcrystalline cellulose. Those long names get their own spelling contest.

The bottle is marked vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO. It also makes claims about sleep and relaxation. I kept those separate from my own notes: what the bottle says and what I notice may not be the same. Let’s see.

Check the serving size first. Here, 200 mg means two capsules, not one. When comparing bottles, compare the magnesium in a full serving—not just the big number on the label.

How I Added It to My Evening Routine

I usually eat twice a day. My first meal is around 10:30 in the morning, and dinner is around 4:30 or 5 in the afternoon. Yes, my kitchen closes early.

I took both capsules right after dinner. Together, they give me 200 mg of magnesium.

I also usually drink apple cider vinegar mixed with water before and after my meal. That was already part of my routine, so it wasn’t something new I added with the magnesium.

What I Noticed: Relaxed Muscles and Better Sleep

For the first three days, I noticed nothing. On day four, I was watching a movie on the couch, like any tired broccoli after a long day, I drifted off and woke when my husband touched my arm.

What stood out was how relaxed my muscles felt. My legs, which usually keep moving, were still. I took a deep breath and let it out. That feeling was new to me—and it felt good.

Since then, I’ve noticed less tossing and turning in bed. I haven’t had my usual 3 a.m. wake-up, either. In the morning, I feel ready to conquer the world, and when I say ready, I mean it.

These are my first-week observations. I can’t say for sure that magnesium caused the changes, but I’m keeping track.

I’m sharing what I noticed, not what you should expect. Your body may respond differently. Start with questions, follow the directions, and pay attention to how you feel.

What One Week Can & Can’t Tell You

During this week, the biggest difference I noticed was in my legs. The muscles felt more relaxed, especially when I settled down at the end of the day. I also slept well, but what stood out most was that calm, loose feeling in my legs. I’m happy about that, although I can’t say for certain that magnesium caused the change.

At first, this deep sense of relaxation felt strange. As the muscles in my legs—and then the rest of my body—loosened, I realized how much tension I had been carrying every day without noticing it. Sometimes, you don’t know how tense your body has been until it finally lets go.

However, your body may respond differently. Keep in mind that we don’t share the same health history, diet, routine, or sleep habits. So you may notice a different result—or nothing at all. My first week cannot predict what your experience will be.

Seven days is only the beginning. I don’t know how I’ll feel next month, so I’ll continue taking notes and sharing updates with you. For now, I like how my muscles feel.

Would I Keep Taking It?

After this first week, yes. The biggest change I’ve noticed is how relaxed my muscles feel, especially in my legs after dinner. That calm feeling seemed strange at first, but now I look forward to it.

I’ve also been moving around less in bed and sleeping past my usual 3 a.m. wake-up. That has been a welcome bonus, although one week is too soon to know whether the magnesium caused it.

I’ll keep taking it and paying attention to how my body responds. For now, I like how I feel: relaxed at night and ready for the day when morning comes.
