The Magic of Our Internal Clock
Have you ever eaten dinner so early…
…that at sundown, you drifted into deep, restful sleep—and woke up the next morning feeling like you could conquer the world? No?
Well, It’s no accident—it’s our body’s internal clock, that rhythm reminding you when the sun sets, ‘Time to rest,’ and when the morning light pours in, ‘Rise and shine, the day is calling.’
My Own Experiment with Early Dinners
I’ve been eating a healthy keto diet for a while, and one thing stands out: timing matters. When I eat dinner early—around 2 or 3 pm—my body rewards me at night. As the sun dips below the horizon, my eyelids sink with it.
One Saturday morning my husband looked at me, puzzled, and said, “What happened to you last night?”
I raised an eyebrow. “About what?”
He shook his head. “Well, I was talking to you about the movie, and you said, ‘Give me a minute, babe.’ Then you laid your head on the couch—and poof—you were gone. I thought you’d passed out! I’ve never seen anyone fall asleep that fast.”
And would you believe me if I told you I don’t remember a single second of it?
It feels as if my body taps me on the shoulder and whispers, “Time to rest.” Even with my laptop open in front of me, my focus blurs, and the weight of sleep pulls me under. I am serious. Screen time means nothing to me. So I think is what I eat, and most importantly, when I eat.
Dinner is simple: protein, salad, and a shot of apple cider vinegar to help everything settle. By nightfall, I’m no longer fighting to stay awake. My body has already begun its journey, gliding away toward the land of dreams.
Waking Up Recharged
Here’s the magic: I naturally wake up early. On weekdays around 5 am. Weekends closer to 7 am. Once I open my eyes, I am ready to conquer the world, scribbling plans, mind racing at high speed, even pondering the oddest things (like lobster immortality).
I’m convinced it’s not only the quality of my meals—it’s the timing. When I eat earlier and give my gut space to do its work, my body rewards me with deeper rest, almost like unlocking a hidden superpower.
Why Your Body Loves Rhythm
I read somewhere that our bodies are wired for cycles: sleep, digestion, mood—all rising and falling in patterns. When we honor those rhythms, life feels smoother:
Early meals → lighter digestion.
Darkness → deeper sleep.
Morning light → sharper energy.
A Gentle Challenge
Would you consider trying it? Have you eaten dinner earlier and felt the difference? Maybe you’ve noticed that when you let your body, not your schedule, set the pace, sleep comes sweeter and mornings shine brighter.
